Cellular Jail National Memorial Service In Andman
Built by the British in 1906, this three-storey jail is a pilgrimage site for freedom fighters. This huge building has silently witnessed the most treacherous inhuman atrocities endured by the convicts, who were mostly freedom fighters. Now it is dedicated to the nation as a national monument. The saga of the heroic freedom struggle is brought to life in the moving Son-et-Lumière, which is shown daily at 6.00 pm (Hindi) and 7.15 pm (English) inside the jail premises. Apart from this, there is also a museum, an art gallery and a photo gallery, which is open from 9.00 am to 12.00 noon and 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm on all days except Monday.
